In March, I bought a car from CarHop/. And most of you know I am not savy at all when it comes to financing!. I have no clue how they approved me since I was already in a loan with Bill iin another car and there was no way they could qualify me,. Since I have this car, I had taken to the shop at least 2 times, they messed up my registration papers, they never responded when I contacted their "supposed warranty service.. Anyways, if they misplaced my payment they woul harass my references even though it's illegal (since they know where I live)|. So, I became very very frustrated with them". For many reasons, the payments (which are, by the way, bi-weekly) they assigned to me were getting heavy on my budget and I was struggling with them,. I 've tried many avenues: refinancing the car, getting a second job, even getting loans to pay for the car. But nobody would refinance me since I am already in another loan and Bill has no meanings of refinancing his car now. I even thought about giving back the car. However, I did find out them that they were charging me 5x times the blue book value of the car. And, by the way, they never told me I had a grace period to return the car. The best approach to me was to be honest with UAC (CarHop's financing company) and tell them of my situation and see if they would work with me to lower the payments and extend the loan. And so I did. At first, I got to talk with a nice lady, Echo, who told me to send documents that indicate I could not pay that amount anymore and that she would talk with her supervisor to get my payments reduced. Well, what do you know? It's just my luck that she got transferred and I got stuck with this guy named Mark. Well, Mark really does not care. After explaining the situation to him, here were his suggestions: "that I would go to a non profit organization to get them to pay my rent so I can pay the car", "that, yes, I could affor my payments, if I forgo my health insurance (I can't waive my coverage) and stop contributing to my 401k and life insurance" (basically not having any benefits, "that I stopped paying my other bills or get food stamps so I can pay the car". He was one minute from suggesting that I *** myself to pay the car. Can you believe it? Finally, I told them "Look, we both know that you are charging me more than the car is worth and that if I return it you are going to lose money." However, I don't think they will budge. Their website promises that they will work with you but that's not true. They promise you warranty for the car, they never contact you when you need. So, yes, I was ***. But they are also a misleading company. They make you think you can afford what they are offering you but you end up stuck with a lemon.

| 5. Written by gleethe on August 5, 2011 from wheat ridge, colorado, US I've never said I was the bright one in this situation. And at that time yes, I could afford the car. however, as you might have slightly noticed, the economy in this country is not in the best condition right now. And my situation changed. yes, I am upset. And I don't take the blame of me. However, is it fair to charce 5x the value of the car? In what way is legal for them to harrass my referrences when they know where I live? I could have done like so many others in this country and just stop paying. That's not what I am doing. I wish you never have to go to any hardships. When you have to decide do I buy my prescriptions or buy food? Things change in life and not always we are able to control them. Sorry, if my posting offended you in any way |
